NW has the best, most intriguing, most interestingly written opening in any book I’ve read since Infinite Jest. It paints the world in such strong, brief strokes, and in that way, reminds me of the opening of Rear Window. And I am only 20 pages in and already, so many perfect sentences that just take my breath away.
