Deadwood: Season 3 (2005) David Milch

We finished watching Deadwood. Someone please point me in the direction of the good season 4 fanfic that surely exists. UGH. SO MANY FEELS.

Veep Season 1 (2012) Armando Iannucci

I cannot wait to re-watch this whole season. Definitely one of my favorite shows of all time so far.

Matt Walsh fucking slays me.

Previously, on Veep.

Deadwood: Season 1 (2004) David Milch

It took a while (probably a good 5 or 6 episodes), but I am really liking Deadwood. In fact, as I write this, we just finished the second season. In the second season, there is a character who says something like, “I don’t think I have enough English to understand”. I feel you, bro. There’s a lot of almost Shakespearean monologues (with a lot more fucks, cocksuckers, and cunts), and politics of the disputed territory. Despite not really understanding quite a lot of what was going on until later, I found myself really liking this show by the end of the season. And at some point I found that I really love all of the characters (except for Bullock/Olyphant, strangely?). Especially this cocksucker.

Game of Thrones: Season 2 (2012) David Benioff, D.B. Weiss

This season was pretty great. They’re doing a fantastic job. uh, SPOILERS I guess?

Highlights: the lone utterance of “you know nothing, Jon Snow”, Tyrion fucking owning shit, Sansa/Sophie coming into her own, fanfic Arya and Tywin, Jaqen, making Theon into a much more sympathetic character much earlier on.

Lowlights: the changes made to Robb and his relationship with Catelyn really undermine his character, the House of the Undying, not creating some AU where Maester Luwin lives.

Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog (2008) Joss Whedon

I watched this.

Luther Season 2 (2011) Neil Cross

This season went slightly more horror/thriller. Entertaining, still dark. Uneven, but I will probably keep watching for Idris Elba acting up a storm. That fine, fine man.

Game of Thrones: Season 1 (2011) David Benioff, D.B. Weiss

Watched the entire season with episode commentaries, when available. Definitely worth buying the Blu-Ray if you’re a fan =)

Downton Abbey: Season 1 (2010)
This is a hoity toity soap opera about rich white people and the white people who work for them. And it does what any good soap opera does, it hooks you.
Also, this bitch is my spirit animal.

The Second City: First Family of Comedy (2006)
A 3 episode documentary about the history of Second City. I really liked the first ep, liked the other two a little progressively less. Whether this was because of the actual merits of the following eps or just my waning interest in the subject matter, I’m not sure. Overall though, really liked it. I laughed super hard even just watching some of the clips.

Mad Men Season 4 (2010) Matthew Weiner
I really liked this season. I liked its start-from-scratch nature and the returned appearance of advertising to the storylines. Joey was pretty adorable too. At the end, I also realized how much I really liked Peggy now. It was a gradual and subtle character progression, and I liked it. ugh totally broke my rule of only watching series that have ended already.

The Take (2009)

It was a Tom Hardy weekend. Pretty standard family crime drama miniseries, although not sure I would recommend it unless you, too, have a hard-on for Tom Hardy.

Mad Men, Season 3 (2009)
I took a break for a while (months, even) and forgot about this show, but then I remembered one night and watched the last three episodes of the season. I thought it was a really terrific end to the season.
